Jharkhand is a new state formed out of cutting portions of Bihar, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh. Jhanrkhand is a mineral state and accounts for 40% of mineral wealth of India. Still presently it is one of the poorest state. With good Industrial base it is bound to become big Industrial state. The population of this state is tribal. About scores of tribes habituate this place. Jharkhand has little to offer to the tourist. Only Business community dealing in steel know this place well.

Jharkhand - Physical Features
Most of the Jharkhand region is part of Chotanagpur plateau which also extends to some parts of West Bengal, Chattisgarh, and Orissa. This region is made up of ancient stone Arkiyan Granite Tatanis. Parasnath Hill at the height of 4,480 feet is the highest peak of the state and a major Jain pilgrimage center. Flora and fauna of the state is rich and it houses two national parks, Betla and Hazaribagh.

Jharkhand - Climate
Climate of the state in general is tropical with hot summers and cold winters. There are regional variations and some parts of the state like Ranchi, Netarhat, and Parasnath have pleasant climate even during the summers. Maximum rainfall takes place during the months from July to September that accounts for more than 90% of total rainfall in the state.

Jharkhand - Flora & Fauna
Jharkhand possesses rich floral and faunal heritage, a result of its being part of Chotanagpur plateau. Main vegetation in this region comprises moist deciduous and dry deciduous forests. The vegetation includes sal and bamboo as the major component. Important faunal species of the state are wolves, hares, chital, nilgai, monkey, common langur, elephants, gaur, leopard, and sambar.
